Endometriosis: An Infertility Factor? and an update.
Hi Everyone,

Spring is round the corner!..
Conceive wrote an interesting article today, which I found interesting because its been something I have been wondering about for myself. I have had severe period pain ever since I started in my early teens, and now I am 40 and I am still having great discomfort at that time of the month! I am questioning in my own mind now, why my RE hasn’t recommended that I have a laparoscopy to check out what’s been going on inside.
Conceive wrote:
Endometriosis—which occurs when tissue that’s supposed to be lining the uterus winds up outside it—can be mild or severe, with symptoms or without. Some women with the disease will have no trouble getting pregnant. But others will need proper treatment to conceive.

An update with where we are right now…
Well, nowhere to be exact! We are in discussions (DH & I) as to whether to do a final IVF treatment or not. He is steering towards the No and I am steering towards the Yes. He will do it, but I want him fully invested in the process. Why should should us women be the only ones to do any preparation… it takes an Egg AND…a sperm!!
Can you tell I have some emotion around this! Well yes, I am working on it, and know for sure that it has to be something we both want to do – together!
Warmly,
Coach Louise

Donor Eggs or Sperm: are you ready to take this step?

Hi Everyone!
I have been absent for a couple of weeks it feels, but I am still here. I am still in inbetween land with our next move, so no news on our front yet. The conversation about what we decide to do next is still lurking, but its kind of heads in sand right now….
In the meanwhile I want to share my colleague Dawn Davenport’s show on BlogTalkRadio which she does weekly, and regularly has professionals from the Reproductive community on her show as guests, so there is some great information on all sorts of topics regarding Fertility Issues. Here is the link to go to her latest show which discusses the pros and cons of going to the option of donor eggs or sperm.

I thought this was a fun video to share with you all. Its important for us to keep remembering what is good in our lives, when we can be so wrapped up in the negative aspects of the fertility journey! Watch and smile…. Coach Louise

A New Study in Fertility might mean no injections!

Hi All,
I would love to deliver good news to you all who have endured so many awful progesterone injections during the IVF treatment! There is a possibility that this new study that was published today, might mean a much less painful experience for those women going through fertility treatments.
Here is an excerpt of the article….
SEATTLE, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ — Patients undergoing in vitro fertilization self-administer daily injections of progesterone from two to eight weeks after the egg retrieval procedure. The outcome of a new study of an investigational formulation of progesterone could replace these painful intramuscular injections of progesterone in oil with less painful subcutaneous injections.
Seattle Reproductive Medicine (SRM), along with eight other large fertility centers across the country, has been selected to participate in a study designed to compare the safety and effectiveness of an investigational aqueous formulation of progesterone that will be compared to a form of progesterone administered intra-vaginally.
“For years patients have complained about these injections….

Enviromental Poison targets gene leading to unexplained infertility.

Hi ladies,
I thought this was quite interesting for those of you who have been diagnosed with ‘unexplained infertility’. UCSF has had some wonderful research break throughs in the last year, and one them was in the field of Endocrinology or infertility. Here’s an excerpt of the article which talks about this topic. I hope you find it helpful….
Endocrinology
UCSF scientists were the first to identify the full effect of a commonly used weed killer, atrazine, on human cells. They reported that the herbicide alters hormone signaling, increasing the activity of a gene associated with abnormal human birthweight. Atrazine, they reported, also targets a gene that is amplified in the uteruses of women with unexplained infertility.

Tips for the New Year to Cleanse, Detox and Bring Vitality to your Body!

welcoming health and vitality!
I mentioned yesterday that I joined a teleclass 8 day cleanse yesterday that I wrote about, that I think will be very supportive physically and emotionally. Its not too late for you to join either, its free, and they have recordings of all the calls if the time difference is an issue! I highly recommend it because there is so much value in the calls.
The host Skip Lackey from www.thejourney.com mentioned a drink that you can easily make up, that is very supportive to the body and helpful with detoxing.
and you gradually add the ingredients over days….
In the morning when you get up take:
a glass of water (room temp)
plus fresh squeeze of lemon juice,
plus pinch of mineral or sea salt (NOT your normal table salt),
plus pinch of cayenne pepper,
plus pinch of grated ginger,
and B grade maple syrup or a little honey if you like a little bit of sweet.
(and mix it all up)
The other tip which is an easy one, is just increase your water intake during the day as we are all generally dehydrated to some degree or other – this will help to give your body what it needs and flush out toxins. If you can don’t drink anything from 30min before a meal or during a meal and for at least 40mins after a meal, so your digestive juices aren’t diluted – digestion becomes a lot more effective.
To your health and fertility success for 2009!
Coach Louise

Cape Town Clinic offers more options to desperate couples!

Endless possibilities...
I just found an interesting article I’d like to share with you, discussing a wonderful clinic that is one of the world leaders in offering more to couples in regards to donor egg treatment and a much more inexpensive program with very high standards of treatment. I can imagine that that is true, as my own experience of doctors in South Africa has always been fantastic. Here is the link to find out more about this clinic and what they offer….happy reading!
